Sigmapharm – an innovative company with history
1949
Founding of ‘Sigmapharm’ by the ENT-specialist Prof. Dr. Herbert Pichler and the chemist Dr. Herbert Punzengruber in Vienna. Due to the close cooperation with the NASA the projects of the company are strongly based on knowledge of the aerospace medicine and space research and result in the development of important medicinal products for ear, nose and throat.
1969
The company founder Prof. Dr Pichler presents the first moon landing on Austrian television, which makes him widely known as ‘Mondpichler’ (‘Moon-Pichler’)
1999/2000
The Mondpichler-Noordung Private Foundation ensures the future independence of the company. The production department is spun-off into MoNo chem-pharm Produkte GmbH as an independent manufacturing company within the Private Foundation. So at present, our organisation consists of Sigmapharm Arzneimittel GmbH and MoNo chem-pharm Produkte GmbH.
2007-today
EU GMP and EN ISO 13485-compliant aseptic manufacture of liquid dosage forms, steady extension of the service portfolio.
Continuous expansion of all activities as contract manufacturer, sales, export and regulatory services provider for customers.
Today we are an independent Austrian pharmaceutical company offering services in development, production and sales – all from a single source.
In September 2016, the ground-breaking ceremony took place for a new production site in Hornstein (Burgenland, Austria). This production site for medicinal products and medical devices will enable aseptic state-of-the-art production of nasal and throat sprays, eye drops and non-injectable vial products.
